GHSIMR 16th convocation : Today`s need leaders of tomorrow

Kanpur : GHSIMR celebrated its sixteenth convocation on Saturday, 5th May 2012. The ceremony started with the academic procession, headed by Mr. A.M. Roomi, Registrar, GHSIMR, Mr. Y.P. Singhania, Chairman, GHSIMR, Prof. Kripa Shankar, Vice Chancellor, Gautam Buddh Technical University, Lucknow, Dr. Prithvi Yadav, Director, GHSIMR, governing council members and faculty members were part of the Academic procession.

The program started with the customary Saraswati Vandana and lighting of the lamp. Mr. R.K. Bagla, Group President, JK Cement declared the Convocation open. In his speech, Mr. Bagla praised the efforts made by the institute in the field of academics and said that these leaders of tomorrow will need to be creative professionals who are able to respond to a variety of difficult problems with their new and innovative ideas and projects.

Dr. Prithvi Yadav, while reading the annual report of the institute mentioned that many national and international academicians/professors have visited the institute and interacted with faculty & students during the past year. He also mentioned about the Inauguration of ‘’Incubation and Entrepreneurial Centre’’ (IEC) at GHSIMR. IEC is a platform for prospective entrepreneurs to transform their innovative and creative ideas and skills into viable products. Further, he added that as a part of curriculum, students embarked for an international trip to UK where they visited University of West of England (UWE) campus in Bristol. Also, as a part of industrial visit during the year, the students visited Forbes Marshall, Volkswagen automobiles, Katraj foods & Dairy in Pune and Goa.

Prof. Shekhar Trivedi, Dean Academics, presented the 16th batch of Full-time students for conferment of Diploma. Kratagya Gupta secured the Chairman’s Gold Medal, Gaganpreet Singh Bhatia secured the Chairman’s Silver Medal, Renu Rochlani secured a meritorious medal for being in the 3rd position, Abhilasha Kapoor got her meritorious medal for securing the 4th position and the 5th position was secured by Angelic Thomas.

Addressing the outgoing batch, Prof. Kripa Shankar said that adherence to ethics and integrity must be ensured all the time and should not be compromised in any case. One should not succumb to the temptation of short term gains. He said that the ethical conduct is a pre requisite for any sustainable business. The Chief Guest’s address was followed by Vote of Thanks by Prof. Devendra Jaiswal, PGP Chair. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

All Governing council, Faculty members, Staff members, Students and Parents of the Students were present to witness the occasion, notably among them were Mr. R G Bagla, Mr. Anil Agarwal, Mr. A K Saraugi, Prof. Sunil Gupta, Prof. Pragya Awasthi, Prof. S K Dixit.
